This is possible, when they're available.
Note: Be aware that UK and US common household measurements are not always equal, even when the names are identical. Example:
- UK cup = 250 mL
- US cup = 240 mL
When you have selected the ingredient you want to add to your recipe, you will have to enter the quantity and unit of measure.
The default unit of measure is grams because most COAs and spec sheets use grams.
However, in the UK database, some ingredients have other units of measure available.
These may be:
- kg (all ingredients)
- mLs, litres, fl oz, tsp, tbsp, and cup (liquids)
- tsp, tbsp and cup (solids that might usefully be measured by volume)
- specific measures (eg for carrots: small, medium and large)
- tsp = level teaspoon (5 mL)
- tbsp = level tablespoon (15 mL)
- cup = UK cup (250 mL)
- fl oz = UK fluid ounce (28.4 mL)
Not all of the database ingredients have been assigned additional units of measure. However, you can add additional units of measure to any user-added ingredient. If necessary, turn off the UK database to make certain that the measurements are calculated to the appropriate region.
