The UK/EU Front of Pack label (FOP) aims to help consumers make informed decisions about their foods by indicating at a glance when certain nutrients are present in high, medium, and low in amounts.
The most common FOP label uses "traffic-light" pattern for nutrients that could lead to obesity or other health issues.
- green = low
- amber = medium
- red = high
The nutrients included in this labeling are:
- Fat
- Saturates
- Sugar
- Salt
The UK/EU Front of Pack report compares the nutrient amount per 100 grams to determine the color rating.

The color codes are based on nutrient amounts per 100g, even though the displayed quantitative amounts are per entered serving size.
