Canada is fairly straight forward regarding which label should be used for a product marketed in Canada. Use the largest version that will fit within 15% of the available display surface of the package.
Canada Label Standard (Vertical)
If possible, use this format.
Canada Label Horizontal
Use this format only when your package cannot accommodate the Standard (Vertical) format.
Canada Linear
Use this format only on small packaged that cannot accommodate the Standard (Vertical) or Horizontal formats.
Canada Supplemented Food Facts
Use this label for prepackaged foods with added supplemental ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and caffeine. These differ from fortified foods.
For additional information, please refer to this external article: How to tell different types of foods and health products apart
Currently, NutriCalc only offers the Standard format. Additionally, most supplemental food facts will require cautionary statements. NutriCalc automatically determines which ones, if any, are needed.
To complete this step, please refer to the Canada Cautionary Statement under the Labels tab.
Canada Front of Package (FOP)
Use this information when the product is high in saturated fat, sugar, and/or sodium. NutriCalc automatically determines whether it is necessary to include one or more FOP symbols.
To better understand this step, please refer to the Canada FOP Label under the Labels tab.
