Compound Ingredients are created as a single ingredient with multiple items to make the whole. An example of this could be a Seasoning mix.
Create the Ingredient in the Ingredient Center.
Gather the individual items and the quantities to add into the Ingredient.
Select the Compound tab.
Enter the ingredients and quantities to be included in the main ingredient.
This allows the ingredients themselves to be absorbed into the Ingredient Declaration, with the name of the compound ingredient not appearing.
Type in the name of each ingredient as you want it to appear on the label.
This is not a search, just the text.
Then add the quantity.
Click the plus sign and that ingredient will be added to the list.
Example: Test Seasoning includes six total ingredients. Each has been added individually. Remember to click save in the upper right corner of the screen once all of the ingredients have been successfully added with the desired quantity.
Allergen values must be entered for each ingredient in the compound ingredient, even if there are no allergens present.
Click on the vertical ellipsis to the left of the ingredient.
Click Add Allergens.
Remember to scroll down to be certain that all of the allergen information is accurate.
Click done once that ingredient is completed.
Repeat this process with each of the ingredients.
Example: Celery Salt contains Celery, so this must be marked as containing Celery.
Note: Once a compound ingredient is entered, the Allergen tab for that ingredient disappears from the top banner. In the reports, allergen values are obtained from the individual elements of the compound ingredient, this is why all values need to be entered for each one individually.
